My name is Drew Evans and since my freshman year at BGSU in 2003 I’ve been a loyal follower of the Falcon hockey team. My experience with the team started as a fan, then as a member of the Bowling Green Radio Sports Organization, a season as a volunteer for the team keeping stats for the coaches, and now as a pseudo-journalist (referring to myself as a journalist is an insult to journalists everywhere). This is why I refer to this site as “A Fan With a Press Pass.” I’m not here to give unbiased factual information about the games. There’s many great writers out there who do much better work than myself (I recommend Kevin Gordon at the Sentinel-Tribune for that).
I first became interested in hockey in 2000 when the late John H. McConnell helped bring Columbus, Ohio an NHL franchise now known as the Blue Jackets. If I seem like a cynic at times you now know why: my two favorite teams in the whole world have struggled the whole time I’ve been a fan. Then again, that’s life as a fan of ANY Ohio sports team.
I can’t skate and can only remember a couple times even playing hockey as a kid. In that regard I guess I am a pretty typical journalist.
I’m always open to criticism, comments, and any other communication that you think I’d like to read. You can either use the Comments section below or send me an e-mail at Drew.R.Evans (at) gmail (dot) com.
Thanks for reading and Go Falcons!
